Estimates for information. Not advice, not a quote, not a valuation.

Information only
Everything on Gold Calculator USA is published for general information and education. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal or appraisal advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold gold or any other asset. If you need advice for your situation, consult a qualified professional.
Prices are indicative and delayed
The spot price shown is a delayed reference figure for XAU/USD collected from third-party sources. It is not a live dealing quote, it is not guaranteed to be accurate at the moment you look at it, and it may be interrupted or stale if a source fails. Real dealer prices include a bid-ask spread and will differ, sometimes materially.
Calculations are estimates
Melt values assume the karat stamp on your item is truthful and that the weight you entered is correct. In practice, hallmarks are occasionally overstated, solder and clasps dilute purity, scales vary, and stones or non-gold parts must be deducted by eye. Only an assay establishes actual gold content. Treat every figure here as a starting point for a conversation, not a valuation.
Payout percentages are typical ranges, not offers
The pawn shop, jeweler, mail-in and refinery percentages reflect commonly observed market bands. No buyer is bound by them. What you are actually offered depends on the buyer, the karat, the quantity, local competition and market conditions on the day. We have no arrangement with any buyer and receive nothing from any transaction.
Historical data
Chart data shows past daily closing prices from third-party sources and may contain gaps or revisions. Past performance says nothing about future prices. Gold can fall as well as rise, and it can stay flat for years.
Jewelry value versus melt value
This site calculates metal value only. It cannot see brand, age, craftsmanship, stones, provenance or collectibility, all of which can be worth far more than the gold. Melting is irreversible. Have anything antique, signed or unusual appraised by a qualified jewelry appraiser before you sell it for scrap.
Tax
Sales tax on bullion varies by state and by transaction size, and gains on physical gold are generally reportable. Any tax field on this site is a calculation convenience with a rate you supply. Confirm your position with your state revenue department or a tax professional.

Errors
Despite our efforts, errors happen. We correct them as soon as they are reported. If you spot one, please tell us through the contact page and include the inputs you used.
